{"id":111,"date":"2023-08-17T19:38:50","date_gmt":"2023-08-17T19:38:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stwendelinschurch.org\/school\/?page_id=111"},"modified":"2024-11-13T19:37:22","modified_gmt":"2024-11-13T19:37:22","slug":"curriculum","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/stwendelins.org\/?page_id=111","title":{"rendered":"Core Academic Areas"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry\">\n\n\n<p>The core academic areas of Religion, Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science are provided to students through our Montessori instructional program as well as some traditional instructional methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Accelerated Reader:<\/strong>\u00a0 The K-6 students participate in the Accelerated Reader program.\u00a0 AR encourages students to choose reading materials in a variety of topics and writing styles.\u00a0 The program provides for assessment activities to check for comprehension of the material read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Art:<\/strong>\u00a0 An art specialist provides opportunities for creative expression through weekly art activities.\u00a0 Art activities also occur in the regular classroom as the relate to other classroom instruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Barton:<\/strong>\u00a0 Students needing additional support in the areas of reading and spelling are able to receive additional instruction from our Barton Specialist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Music:<\/strong>\u00a0 Our liturgy is enhanced by our school choir through vocals and musical instruments.\u00a0 The choir is directed by our Music teacher which also provides music classes twice a week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Phy Ed:<\/strong>\u00a0 In additional to the daily recess periods students have the opportunity for physical activities during their three times a week Phy Ed classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Technology:<\/strong>\u00a0 Students attend computer class twice a week.\u00a0 Students in grades K-2 have one-to-one iPads in their classrooms and grades 3-6 have individual Chromebooks for use with class assignments.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The core academic areas of Religion, Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science are provided to students through our Montessori instructional program as well as some traditional instructional methods.
